Europe’s travel and tourism recovery: the political and practical response. A conversation with UNWTO and Turismo de Portugal
18th June 2020
Travel in Europe is starting to open up internally but is progress quick enough? International organisations can make recommendations and issue guidelines but it is countries that must make the decisions. The risk of permanent loss of capacity and economic harm is becoming more starkly apparent. What is the political and practical response?
In addition to risk, there is also opportunity as destinations develop strategies for a sustainable recovery. To talk about these, and the urgency to get business moving again, we were joined by:
- Alessandra Priante, Director for Europe, World Tourism Organization (UNWTO)
- Luís Araújo, President of Turismo de Portugal.
