Key findings include that:
- Travel searches increased at an annual rate of 10% in Q4 2022, with Asia Pacific leading the way where annual growth exceeded 50%
- Compared with a year before the numbers searching for travel with a moderate lead time has risen markedly, most notably for trips with a booking lead time of 180+ days
- For travellers in Europe, Middle East and Africa the most booked destinations in Q4 2022 were London, New York, Paris, Dubai and Istanbul
- Among travellers in Asia Pacific London was the leading destination in Europe (6th overall), Paris the leading European destination booked by those in Latin America (6th) and London the leading European destination for those in North America (8th overall)
- Price sensitivity is expected to remain top of mind for many who are booking travel in the coming months
- The share of bookings made through Expedia on a mobile device (phone or tablet) has risen 15% between 2019 and 2022
