Amadeus Rebuild Travel Survey 2021
A 9-page summary of research undertaken during September 2021 in nine separate markets among 1,000 recent (past 18 months) international travellers, investigating attitudes to travel, what’s concerning travellers, sentiment towards travel health data, openness to technology and sustainable travel.
Key findings include that:
- 51% of those polled expect to travel to/within Europe (internationally) within the next year
- Baby Boomers were the cohort most likely to say they plan to travel to Europe for leisure in the next year
- Only 38% agreed that there was clarity with regard to the restrictions and health requirements for international travel at present with those in the UK the most likely to say guidelines were confusing
- 70% would be willing to provide personal information and health data using digital health passports for international travel
- The main concerns continue to be the fear of catching COVID-19 while travelling as well as self-isolation and quarantine requirements
- More than two-in-five said that they believe greater availability of green modes of transport will help the industry to become more sustainable in the long-term
