UNWTO Covid-19 Travel Restrictions Report
While much of the 42-page report is full of detailed tables there is a useful three-page ‘Key Facts’ page at the beginning of the document.
Important findings include that one-third of all destinations remained fully closed to travel at the start of February 2021 with a further one-third partially closed. Five destinations had lifted all restrictions.
Later sections of the report look at how travel restrictions have evolved in different parts of the world over the course of the past nine months revealing a slow but steady reduction in the number with a full border closure.
There is an interesting review of the travel advice being issued to the citizens of the world’s top ten source markets, eight of which were advising citizens against all but essential travel abroad at the start of February.
A series of Annexes look at how the study has been compiled.
