Working groups provide opportunity for ETOA’s members and partners to cooperate on issues to do with the business environment for tourism in Europe. They are topic or destination focused. Activities can range from in-person meetings to ad hoc consultation and information sharing.

Their composition is not fixed and expressions of interest are welcome. We try to ensure access to insight from various business models and origin markets, and specialist expertise where applicable. For destination-focused groups, representatives from members’ local offices are especially valuable.

Current activity and priorities

The working group is focusing on key operational challenges, including recruitment, forecasting demand, and supporting the transition to sustainable mobility. There’s also attention on accommodation costs, market trends, and innovation in attractions.

Latest Meetings

On 3rd September 2025 ETOA and local members met in Dublin to review key aspects of the Irish tourism industry, including demand trends from Europe and the US. Discussions highlighted attractions focusing on domestic events, digitalisation, late openings, and value-added experiences, while transport providers face staffing and fleet challenges and are exploring better ways to package tickets. Operators reported shorter packages and margin pressures, hotel rates are beginning to stabilise, and policy and infrastructure issues—such as street safety, airport capacity, and tourism prioritisation—remain important considerations.
