#TNM25 - The Nordic Marketplace Delegate Travel Results

Delegate travel has the most significant impact on the total carbon emission of the services ETOA sells (the ‘Scope 3’ emissions described in our Climate Action Plan: we use revenue from our events to fund projects aligned with science-based emissions reductions goals).

Current Findings:

 

To reach #TNM25*: 

  • Delegates took an average of 1.83 different modes of transport per person. 
  • One third of delegate journeys included public transportation (33%). 
  • Two thirds of delegates took a short-haul flight (67%); making up 36% of all modes of transport taken. 
  • Nearly 1 in 5 delegate journeys included a train (17%); making up 9% of all modes of transport used. 

Travel purpose: 

  • 89% of delegates travelled exclusively for #TNM25, while 1 in 10 combined their trip with other activities. 

 

*18 respondents reporting 33 transport modes taken (as at 29.04.2025). ETOA uses ‘Travel Purpose’ to estimate the percentage of delegate travel emissions reasonably attributable to ETOA Scope 3 activity. Final results will be taken as representative of total delegates.
