- Burgenland moved from per person per night to net cost of room assessment basis and extended exemption to children under 19.
- Salzburg (province) max rates increased but rates for Salzburg and Zell am See remain the same.
Kurtaxe
The tourist tax (kurtaxe) is decided by the province and in some cases local governments (municipalities) too in each of the 9 provinces (Burgenland, Carinthia, Lower Austria, Salzburg, Styria, Tyrol, Upper Austria, Vienna and Vorarlberg).
All regulate that it is levied on visitors staying overnight, but the name of the tax varies depending on the province:
Aufenthaltsabgabe – Tyrol
Gästetaxe – Vorarlberg
Ortstaxe – Burgenland, Upper Austria, Vienna
Nächtigungsabgabe – Salzburg, Styria
Nächtigungstaxe – Lower Austria
Orts- und Nächtigungstaxe – Carinthia
