Kurtaxe

The tourist tax (kurtaxe) is decided by local governments (municipalities) in each of the 9 provinces (Burgenland, Carinthia, Lower Austria, Salzburg, Styria, Tyrol, Upper Austria, Vienna and Vorarlberg).

The name of the tax and how much is charged varies depending on the province and is levied on visitors staying overnight. The tax is usually known as either kurtaxe, ortstaxe, nächtigungsabgabe or gästetaxe.

Below are selected destinations in each of the 9 provinces and further information can be found by clicking on the name of the destination.
