The tourist tax (kurtaxe) is decided by local governments (municipalities) in each of the 9 provinces (Burgenland, Carinthia, Lower Austria, Salzburg, Styria, Tyrol, Upper Austria, Vienna and Vorarlberg).
The name of the tax and how much is levied varies depending on the province and is charged on visitors staying overnight. The tax is known as either a kurtaxe (tourist), ortstaxe (local), nächtigungsabgabe (night) or gästetaxe (guest).
Below are selected destinations in each of the 9 provinces and further information can be found by clicking on the title of the destination.
While best efforts have been made to verify the accuracy of the information on 31 May 2019, the information displayed should be used as guidance only.
