About ETOA

The European Tour Operators Association was founded in 1989 by a group of tour operators who wanted representation in Europe. After more than 20 years ETOA remains the only trade association offering European level representation for the interests of inbound and intra-European tour operators, wholesalers and their European suppliers. Today, ETOA is the voice of European Inbound Travel, with over 500 Members.

Aims
  • To influence European tourism legislation so that it ensures members are provided with a viable environment in which to do business
  • To keep members informed of the latest developments in the issues that affect their business
  • To create commercial opportunities between buyers and sellers in the travel industry and act as a forum for cooperation between members

ETOA Secretariat: Who Does What


The Secretariat, located in London, UK, is responsible for the day-to-day running of the association's affairs, such as arrangements of committee meetings, events management and marketing, maintaining the website, and communicating with members.

In addition, ETOA runs a number of Committees and has its own Constitution.

TOM JENKINS

EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

The role of Tom Jenkins is to oversee the office and staff, ensuring that all projects that ETOA is involved in are being done.  It also includes lobbying in Brussels as a part of the NET umbrella and reporting back to the membership about any developments and events happening at a European level, as well as increasing the MPs' and commissioners' awareness of ETOA and its role.  Networking both within the association and the travel industry in general is also part of the responsibilities of Tom Jenkins and includes attendance at travel trade events.

ADAM BUCKMASTER

HEAD OF ONLINE STRATEGY

Adam Buckmaster is the point of contact for all issues relating to eCommerce in the incoming European tourism industry.  He oversees ETOA's website and systems development, including the workshop registration system used at our events.

SONIA WILSON

EVENTS & OPERATIONS MANAGER

Sonia Wilson is managing all ETOA events.  Sonia ensures the smooth and efficient running of the workshops and exhibitions, from the backstage planning and organisation to the final execution on the day.  Her aim is to deliver the best possible experience to the attendees of an ETOA event.

JAY MUNRO-MICHELL

COMMERCIAL DEVELOPMENT MANAGER

Jay Munro-Michell is responsible for the strategic and commercial growth of the association for members by market and sector. In addition to meeting and networking with members, initiating partnerships, raising the profile of the association, attending industry events, recruiting new members and widening the membership base, the role of Jay also involves identifying and increasing income opportunities to widen member services.

MAGDALENA OSMOLA

MARKETING & COMMUNICATIONS MANAGER

The role of Magdalena Osmola incorporates a variety of tasks ensuring the consistency of ETOA branding, including managing the design and production of offline and online marketing materials.  Magdalena identifies opportunities for advertising and sponsorship and overlooks general marketing strategy development.  Her role also includes planning and evaluating communication campaigns both for promoting ETOA events and for raising the association's profile in the tourism industry.  In addition Magdalena manages relations with Media and Industry Partners and coordinates ETOA research projects.

NICK GREENFIELD

HEAD OF TOUR OPERATOR RELATIONS

Nick Greenfield is a main point of contact for our Tour Operators.  He is responsible for involving members in all aspects of the association from meetings and seminars to major events such as the Global European Marketplace (GEM). By encouraging and facilitating participation, gaining feedback and responding to members’ needs Nick ensures that ETOA remains vital and continues to innovate.

LAUREN THOMAS

MEMBERSHIP & EVENT SALES COORDINATOR

Lauren Thomas is the first point of contact for members and membership enquiries.  Lauren's role is central to supporting, meeting and advising members day to day and ensuring that the whole membership benefits from services and opportunities offered by the association.

LAURA BAGGIO

EVENT SALES COORDINATOR

Laura Baggio is responsible for the sales of all ETOA workshops and co-exhibiting spaces in the ETOA stand for major trade shows, and a point of contact for enquiries and assistance related to ETOA events.  Laura also represents the association at industry events and exhibitions.

The role of Marta Garcia includes ensuring the efficient day to day running of the ETOA office, including overseeing office equipment and insurances.  Marta also acts as a PA in support of the Executive Director.

PAUL DRAPER

OPERATIONS EXECUTIVE

Paul Draper joined ETOA in 2011.  He coordinates online registration and payment for ETOA events and ensures the smooth running and development of ETOA’s unique online appointment system for workshops.  Paul also maintains the Policy Areas section of the ETOA website and conducts research into operational matters affecting ETOA members, such as European hotel taxation and other regulations.

WEB & MARKETING SUPPORT

Ekaterina Novitskaya is responsible for assisting in all areas of marketing strategy. She is also responsible creating and monitoring social media presence; website maintenance and development; media monitoring, EU policy and relevant tourism industry research; industry partner and member communications and assisting with various e-marketing campaigns.

TIM FAIRHURST

HEAD OF GROUP TOURISM

Tim Fairhurst is responsible for ETOA's activities related to group tourism in Europe, and ensures its membership has access to up-to-date information and advice.  Key topics are tour management and freedom to provide services; driving hours and related regulation; coach access and associated tolls and charges; capacity management including consultation with cities and attractions to respond to the needs of group tourism; best practice guidelines and associated questions of liability.  Tour Operators with groups business are encouraged to share their comments and concerns at any time.
