Following the successful inauguration in 2014 Showcase.travel Athens will return in 2015. The three-day programme of a B2B workshop and fam trips will take place in Athens on 26th-27th April 2014. It will provide buyers with the opportunity to meet Athens and other Greece-based tourism suppliers and experience their offer first hand.

Showcase.travel workshops follow the same format as other ETOA events but focus on one destination. Buyers are offered half a day of scheduled appointments as part of a programme of fam trips and social events.

Fam Trips

Cultural / Sightseeing

Explore one of the oldest cities in the world and two of the world’s most famous cultural attractions the Parthenon and the New Acropolis museum. Wander around the longest archaeological promenade in Europe and the cobblestone traditional area of Plaka and taste Greek Mediterranean delights and spirits. Furthermore, if you are a fan of vintage items and you would like to meet emerging Greek fashion designers, jewelry-making by the finest crafters, artisans and contemporary design studios, they are all just a shopping stroll away!

Blue / by the sea

Emerge on a cruise to discover the Athenian Coast and nearby islands. You will have Greek traditional breakfast on board, and there will be sailing lessons for those who desire. Agia Marina, Aegina’s small harbor, will be our first stop. We will walk to Afaia Temple and you can experience Greek civilization and ancient god mythology next to olive trees and deep blue seas. Afterwards, we will head to a small island, off of Aegina, called Moni. A paradise of great bays and beaches, so close and yet so far away from civilization, that makes you feel almost as if you are the first human being on earth, next to wild life. You will have the chance to swim until our table will get set up on the beach, with traditional Greek treats and products, as well as plenty of raki, ouzo and Greek wine. Our day will end as we sail back to Alimos at sunset.

This itinerary is specifically designed for bon-viveurs and travelers who aspire to indulge in Gourmet Gastronomy, wine-tasting and spa experience in one of Athens’ most exclusive Spa Resorts. Enjoy a short excursion in the vineyards of Attica region, just 45 min away from Athens and taste selected estate wines.

Indulge yourselves in an ultimate Spa experience in the southern suburbs of Athens and have an interactive gastronomic experience with a renowned Greek Chef as he takes you on an amazing culinary journey.

Join us on an unexpected walk around an open-air canvas, an alternative way to see Athens, through the eyes of a real graffiti artist. You’ll get the chance to hear a different story about Athens and what’s truly happening at its heart and at the same time to visit parts of Athens such as Keramikos, Gazi and Psiri, where you can see and learn about wonderful street art that lies hidden around the city. If you’d like to see a contemporary city within one of the most famous ancient cities in the word, and taste the local Souvlaki at one of the famous street tavern, this is your tour!

Off the beaten path by “This is MY Athens” locals

Go beyond the traditional guide book sights and places of interest by letting an Athenian take you to that special neighborhood bakery, or show you some great neighborhoods along the Southern coast and the breathtaking promenades. Let an Athens local tell you about a great restaurant near the Acropolis that makes that “must-try” Greek dish or simply go shopping with an Athenian that knows all those great shops for special handmade souvenirs.
