ALL THE FUN OF THE FAIR – David Essex hits the West End
After a recent UK national tour David Essex and ALL THE FUN OF THE FAIR will make its West End Debut at London’s Garrick Theatre previewing from 17 April and running until 5 September 2010. Inspired by one of his most successful albums All the Fun of the Fair is written by David Essex, who leads the cast as fun fair owner Levi Lee.

HOLDING THE MAN – To Open in April 2010
The smash hit Australian production, adapted by Tommy Murphy from Tim Conigrave’s award winning and best selling memoir of the same name, will make its UK debut this Spring at Trafalgar Studios 1 in London. One of Australia’s most celebrated comic actors, JANE TURNER will be making her West End debut, with further casting to be announced.
Holding the Man is the best-selling memoir by Australian writer, actor, and activist Timothy Conigrave. It is the achingly funny and heartbreaking true life story about the relationship between Tim and John Caleo.

HAIRSPRAY – Closes in the West End prior to UK Tour
The smash hit award-winning musical HAIRSPRAY will close at the Shaftesbury Theatre in London on Sunday 28 March after a run of 2½ years, over 1,000 performances and a total audience of over 1 million. At the 2008 Olivier Awards, Hairspray won ‘Best Musical’, as well as ‘Best Actor in a Musical’ for Michael Ball and ‘Best Actress in a Musical’ for Leanne Jones. The show also won ‘Best Musical’ at the Evening Standard Awards, the Whatsonstage.com awards, the Critic’s Circle Awards and the Variety Club Showbiz Awards.

A new campaign has been launched to promote travel by bus and coach worldwide. Smart Move (www.busandcoach.travel) is an initiative of the International Road Transport Union, a partner of ETOA, and Busworld, and aims to double the use of buses and coaches, as a means towards meeting targets to reduce carbon emissions associated with travel and transport, and improve safety. The European inauguration of the Smart Move campaign took place in Brussels, on the occasion of the first annual European Bus and Coach Day (More at www.iru.org). "Bus and coach transport's flexibility makes it a highly efficient, yet safer and greener alternative to complement or even replace private cars, with obvious advantages for society as a whole," said IRU Secretary General, Martin Marmy. "Doubling the use of bus and coach transport over the next 10-15 years is not only a realistic and cost-efficient policy; it is also a commendable approach from a public interest point of view." In Europe alone, such an increase would result in a reduction in CO2 emissions by at least 50 million tonnes per year; a reduction in road fatalities by over 3000 per year; a spectacular fall of congestion in cities at zero cost for taxpayers subsequent to an expected 10-15% reduction in car traffic, and the creation of 4 million new jobs.
